February 8, 1957 – August 26, 2024
After a hard-fought battle with cancer, Terry passed on August 26/24. He leaves behind his wife of nearly forty years, Annette, his daughters Raye-Leigh, Genevieve (Kris), Amanda (Kyle) & Harlyn (Jordan), three grandsons & six granddaughters. He was predeceased by his parents Tom & Vickie.
He was a bear of a man with big hands & a huge heart that had a soft spot for the downtrodden and seriously ill children. Generous & loyal, his family & friends knew he could always be counted on. He was happiest when his kids & grandkids would visit & inevitably stay for dinner.
Terry loved hockey (especially the after-game banter & pranks), travelling, movies, his buddy Max (his dog who predeceased him by one week), and Elvis Presley. He always made an effort to stay in touch with his many friends from school, hockey & work. He was proud of his 27 year career as a Winnipeg policeman yet he was truly in his element when he was behind the wheel of a combine, tandem or his Escalade.
A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, September 7, 2024 at 2:00 p.m., at the Selkirk Community Church, 6569 Provincial Trunk Highway 9, Saint Andrews, MB. R1A 4E6
Honorary pallbearers are his sons-in-law Kris, Kyle & Jordan, grandsons Chase, Nikolas & Brayden, his cousin Johnny Morgoch and longtime friends Bruce Romaniuk, Andy Monostori & Ed Gluting. A huge thank- you to the staff at Cancer Care & Emergency at Selkirk Health Centre and to Dr. Peter Bialy for tending to Terry’s comfort & well-being over the years. I worked with Terry at the Winnipeg Police Service. We were partners downtown in the old PSB and then worked on the same shift in the north end. Great guy and we had a lot of laughs. Rest in Peace. Condolences to family and friends.

My sincere condolences to Terry’s family. I’m very sorry for your loss. I worked in the North End out of the Hartford Street Station, when Terry worked there too. He was a great man, always laughing and good for some jokes. I really his smile and his laughs. He will be missed.

Condolences to the family. I worked overlaps with Terry occasionally as I was on B2 shift downtown. Got to know Terry more as we played baseball with the Masterbatters in Florida several years. Many a great time to be had. Rest easy Ter 🖤🖤💙🖤🖤

As families go, we weren’t very close in the past years but you were always thought of when we would take a drive north. Stopping occasionally to see what new projects you were up to. Your mom always kept us informed of your achievements, from playing hockey, to WPS and then your own company.

Oh Donna, that was such a good day, wasn’t it? I still remember crying my eyes out at the live play of Lion King because I missed my little one. She’s almost 33 now!

Had the pleasure of playing hockey with Terry for a number of years with the Winnipeg Club old timers. Was always fun to be around and played pretty good hockey as well. Rest in peace teammate!!

I’m Terrys cousin.When Terry was 16 he came to Mich. with my wife and kids. I was a Mich. State Trooper and I would take Terry to work with me. He seemed to dote on the work and always asked questions. I like to think I was instrumental in his desire to join the Wpg. Police.
Terrys parents were my Aunt Vickie & Uncle Tom Mitchell.

Today is a sad day as we say good bye to a big lovable guy who had a heart that was even bigger. I have known and been a good friend of Terry’s for 45 years. We met while working for WPS in the late 70’s. From there the friendship turned to shared hunting and fishing trips along with playing alongside him in various hockey leagues. You could always rely on Terry to rally his friends for a breakfast get together which made for great social connections.. Terry will be deeply missed. My condolences to Annette and family.
Thanks Andy. He valued your friendship so much & appreciated you taking the time to come & sit with him before he passed. We had a lot of spats, many challenges & some downright battles of wills, but we were in for the long haul. Boy, this is where the reality of gone forever sets in. This is going to be a tough ride 🙁

Hi Pat! So good to hear from you. Thanks for your caring message. Didn’t quite make our 40th like you two did but we came close! A few CMHC girls came to the service: Murielle, Cindy Z, Marlene, Jeanette, Diane G, Jacquie & Joan. (hope I’m not forgetting anyone) Joan has become small & a little frail. I didn’t know til after the service that she lost Jassen earlier this year. We’re all getting up there, damn it!

I have the fondest of memories growing up my cousin Terry. From raiding the neighbours garden to lots of snowmobiling in winter. Shenanagings in the root cellar to running all over the farm.
We didn’t keep in contact over the past years but with the miles that separated us played a small part of that I guess. The fun times are memories that I’ll forever hold dear.

I met Terry on the school bus on route to River East. Day 1, the bullies in the back of the bus were pitching crabapples at our heads. Day 2 or 3, Terry sat beside me and I was never targeted again. We had so much fun in the early days…working at Lionel’s Transfer, the Ice Cream stand. imperial oil, motor biking, snowmobiling, hockey, suntanning on the combine while Terry maintained perfect rows. Moving forward with our baby, a new career with the police force, my career made it difficult to move forward. I am so thankful for Annette, Reigh-lee, and Gen for completing Terry’s life with laughs, pranks and fun for 40 years! RIP
