Louise Munn (nee Peterkin)

The family of Louise Munn (nee Peterkin) are saddened to announce that she lost her battle with cancer July 12, 2022 at the Betel home in Selkirk.

Born in Winnipeg, March 29, 1948, she grew up on Collegiate street in “Sunny” St. James.  She attended St. James Collegiate and married George in 1968. Together they raised three daughters.

She leaves behind husband George of almost 54 years, daughters Michelle (Rob), Nicole (Sean) and Rochelle (Brennan), grandchildren, Donovan (Bethany), Madison, Sarah, AbbyGayle, Lexi, Conar and Anne.  Great grandchildren Ryleigh and Carter.  Also left to remember her are her brother Gerald Peterkin, sister in law Sharon Sadowy, and niece and nephew Heather and Kevin, as well as many close friends.

Special thanks go to the staff of Betel home Selkirk and Dr. Sexton for the wonderful care for Louise in the last 7 months. Cremation has taken place and a private service will be held.

She will be reunited with her granddaughter Hanna, parents Lorraine and Alexander (Papa), and her cats Bobo and Bailey.

John Wilkinson

September 18, 1919 – June 28, 2022

Peacefully, John (affectionately known to many as Captain Jack) left us just short of his 103rd birthday. He was predeceased by his wife Muriel in 2017 after 71 years of marriage.  Together they created many memories spending their summers in the Whiteshell boating and fishing with family and friends.

After more than 30 years at the T.Eaton Co he retired at age 62. He filled his retirement years travelling, golfing, and curling. He earned a lifetime membership to the Lorette Golf Course and finally gave up his golf cart at 95. He was featured as the CTV sports star of the week for curling at Fort Garry CC at age 96.

He is survived by his daughters; Wendy (Colin), Jennifer, Jan (Barrie); grandchildren Kris (Sarah), Jillian, Chelsea (Mike), Bryan (Laura), Andrew (Magda), Christian and Brendan.  He also leaves behind his great-grandchildren; Jaden, Luna, Noah, Alice, Kaia and many nieces and nephews and their families.

Jack proudly hung his letters congratulating him on his 100th birthday from the Queen and honouring his service to his country from the Minister of Veterans Affairs. He will be fondly remembered for his storytelling, love of cars and especially his quick wit, honesty and integrity.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Veterans Affairs Canada.

Lois Anne Margaret (Davison) Tully

Mom passed away peacefully June 9, 2022 shortly after celebrating her 98th birthday on May 12th.  She kept in touch via Zoom calls, telephone calls and had as many in-person visits with her friends and family as possible to offset the pandemic.  Family and friends were the centre of her life, in all things her joy and sincerity were evident.

Mom was born in 1924 at Beresford just north of Souris, Manitoba to Jean and George Davison and grew up with her four brothers Jack, William (Bill), Geordie and Gerald (Deb). She attended the one room School #447 just west of her home and then taught there for two years after completing her Grade 12 . She moved on to work for Wawanesa Mutual in Souris and then in Summerville, Manitoba. She met James Arthur Tully (Art) (predeceased 1998) through her brother Jack and enjoyed two years of dancing, movies and spending time at the Davison farmstead.  They were married on December 27, 1948. They bought a farm at Elgin, Manitoba and spent three years working at establishing the farm and working in Winnipeg in the winters to pay the bills. In 1953 they purchased property in Winnipeg and built their home at 138 Oakdean Boulevard where Lois resided until recently.

Mom and Dad raised 5 children: Linda Jane (Geoffrey Kerr), Denis James, (Rita Mc Innis) Douglas Grant (Sally Gyles), Margaret Anne (Larry Demco) and Scott Kimball (Dolores Sawatzky, former spouse Lori Hall).  Lois has many beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren and extended family members.

Through the kid’s formative years, there were many weekend trips to visit Mom’s brothers who farmed across western Manitoba. There was also a passion to camp out at Sioux Narrows to allow her to be closer to nature. Mom was very outgoing and was involved with ‘Engineer’s Wives’ group in the 50’s and became closely involved with the church through Junior Achievement for teenage girls.  St Andrew’s was a integral part of her daily life.  She also taught swimming at the YMCA and had many talents as an artist creating paintings, baskets, quilting, sewing, knitting and crochet and was active in the Manitoba Crafts Guild. Mom’s true passion was to teach and she spent a great deal of time with young women teaching all of these crafts.

Service of Memorial will be 1:00 pm Saturday June 18 at St Andrew’s Anglican Church (Woodhaven) officiated by The Reverend Liz Richens.  Interment has taken place at Glenwood Cemetery, Souris MB, service officiated by The Reverend Ian Mills.

In Lois’ memory, in lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Missionaries of Charity (Mother Teresa), 167 Aikens Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba R2W-0A1.  Please take the time to plant a geranium for Lois.  The family wishes to acknowledge a deep appreciation for the staff at the Charleswood Personal Care home for their loving care of Lois.

Whatsoever things are true, honest, just, pure, and lovely; think on these things.  Phil. 4:8.
