In Loving Memory of James Terris

It is with deep sorrow that I share my heartfelt condolences on the passing of James Terris, who left us on January 17th at the Health Sciences Centre. I was by James’s side in his final moments, sitting with him, speaking to him, and comforting him until he took his last breath at 1:36 a.m.

I had the privilege of knowing James for the past three years—years filled with meaningful moments, shared experiences, and a bond that grew into something far greater than words can fully describe. James was more than family to me. I welcomed him into my home, where I had the honor of supporting and caring for him, and together we built a life rich with connection, laughter, and companionship.

We shared countless special moments—attending hockey games, wrestling events, and football games; sharing meals, shopping together, joking, laughing, and simply enjoying each other’s company. James had an incredible sense of humor that could light up any room, and it is one of the many things I will miss most deeply.

One of the most unforgettable experiences we shared was traveling to France, a dream on James’s bucket list. Standing together at the top of the Eiffel Tower and visiting so many beautiful places was a moment of pure joy—one that will forever remain close to my heart.

During his time with us, James formed many meaningful friendships and connections within the community. He touched many lives, and his presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

I would also like to sincerely thank James’s family for their unwavering presence in his life—for visiting him, inviting him to family gatherings, taking him out for coffee and meals, and for the phone calls that meant so much to him. Your love and involvement made a profound difference, and I am truly grateful.

To Valerie, James’s sister, thank you from the bottom of my heart for your kindness and support. Whenever I needed help or guidance with James, you were always there, and I will forever appreciate that.

And to all those who played respite roles in helping me support James, a heartfelt thank you to each of you. You showed him genuine love, care, and compassion; you listened to him and made yourselves available whenever he needed a helping hand. Your presence and dedication truly made a difference in his life.

Losing James leaves behind a deep sense of emptiness and loss. We feel the void his absence has created. Yet, we find comfort in knowing that he is now in a better place—free from pain and suffering, and at peace.

James will always be remembered, always cherished, and forever missed.

May your soul rest in eternal peace, James.

    With love and remembrance,
    Peter Karari

James was a great guy. He spent many a fun evening with his dad and Brian playing darts at the Charleswood Legion. I hope they are together now reminiscing.
