It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gerald Ernest Joseph Rivard. Gerry left us peacefully in his home on March 24th, 2025 at the age of 60. Son of Ernie and Diane Rivard, he was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on September 21st 1964.
While widely known for his genuinely kind spirit and wicked sense of humour, those who knew him best recognized that his greatest love and admiration were for his family. Gerry’s presence and smile will be profoundly missed by his mother Diane, his sister and brother in- law, Nicole and Marc Beaudet and by his favorite person, his niece Dominique. His passing will leave a deep void in his mother’s life. Gerry’s Sunday visits meant a great deal to her and were moments that she will always cherish.
Gerry spent his youth in Winnipeg where he enjoyed sports, music and writing. He lived and worked in Mississauga, Ontario, Nelson and Vancouver, BC for many years, before returning to his roots in The Peg. Gerry was a gentle soul and a true gentleman. He was a hard worker, an avid card player and a good listener. He was well informed, had a broad knowledge base and never backed down from a good debate. Gerry will be deeply missed by his many friends and his family.
A private memorial will be held by his immediate family.
Rest in peace brother.
Family and friends are invited to share memories and condolences on Gerry’s memorial page using the comment field below.

Remembering all the fun we had as kids, the craziness we got into as teenagers and the laughter and friendship we shared as adults. I will miss shooting the shit with you over a beer.
your little sister
We only met Gerry once when he came out to BC to visit Nicole, Marc and Dominique. We found him to have a great sense of humour and enjoyed his company.
Sending our sympathy to Diane from Del, Joy and Andrew ❤️
Gerry and I became dear friends in high school and we had many crazy adventures together. I’ll never forget my trip to Mississauga to visit him. Though our lives took different paths and we rarely got together, when we did, those decades between seemed like days. That is a true friend. You’ll always own real estate in my heart, Geraldo. And when you kick open the door to announce your arrival, wherever the next chapter takes you, do it with a bang! “Ka-F’ing BOOM!!” my friend. I love you❤️Brian Reimer
