Betty Kump

June 27, 1957 – January 12, 2025

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Betty Kump, on January 12, 2025. At 67 years of age, she lost her battle with cancer and was reunited with her late husband, Glen, who passed away in 2001.

She will be sadly missed by her 6 daughters Cheryl, Betty Anne (Samuel), Christine, Darlene (Russell), Ellen and Margaret (Rebecca); and her 12 grandchildren Eric, Austin, Mya, Jamie (Brett), Bobbie, Samantha, Alexis, Michael, Lance, Savannah, Mary and Clementine. She is also survived by her sisters Susan, Debbie (Mike), Mary (Lavern), Fran, Laurie (Gord), Joanna (Dennis); and Brothers Gary (Charlene), Danny (Kelly), Steven (Debrah) as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her mother Betty, her father John and her two brothers David and Mark.

Betty was born in St. Catherine’s, Ontario. As a child she was a very happy kid, always laughing and was super funny. She enjoyed climbing trees, playing outside, making mud pies and running barefoot in the rain. She also loved tobogganing and would often show her strength by pulling all her sisters up the hill.

She began traveling at 11 years of age, making her way through Ontario to Manitoba helping others and making friends throughout her journey. She moved many times but always considered Arborg, Manitoba her home where she made a life for her children. She would often be seen gardening, spending time with family and friends, and helping others as the need would arise. She will always be remembered for her kind heart, sense of humor and her will to never give up.

A service will be held on January 22, 2025 at 1 pm at Church of the Rock on 1397 Buffalo Pl, Winnipeg where we will share memories and say goodbye to an incredible mother and friend.

Family and friends are invited to share memories and condolences on Betty’s memorial page using the comment field below.

My dearest friend Betty, oh how I will miss you. The greatest laugh, the kindness she always showed, always wanting to help when needed. The endless card games we played and laughed so hard at the silliest of things. It always warmed my heart. You were a fighter to the bitter end and had such a good outlook on life even when times were tough. I was so proud of you and always will be. You were a trusting loving friend who I will never forget. Sleep with the angels my dear friend. My condolences to all the family.

Betty was like a mother to me, and her love and kindness will remain with me forever. I will always treasure the time we spent together playing cards, laughing, and sharing stories. Her warm hugs and the joy on her face whenever I visited made me feel truly at home.
Betty’s thoughtful calls just to say “hi” and her unmatched hospitality showed the depth of her care and generosity. She treated me like family, and her love was a blessing in my life.
I am deeply grateful for all the moments we shared, and I will forever hold her memory close to my heart. May her beautiful soul rest in eternal peace.
