Thomas George Munn

Our family is saddened to announce passing of our dad, granddad, great granddad, brother and friend Thomas George Munn on December 31, 2022.

George was born in Winnipeg June 29, 1947 to Thomas and Alice Munn. He attended St. James Collegiate and married Louise (nee :Peterkin) in 1968. They were together 53 years. He worked hard to provide for his family and there was nothing he wouldn’t do for his daughters or his grandkids.

He is reunited with his wife Louise, daughter Rochelle and granddaughter Hanna and his parents Thomas and Alice.

He leaves behind to remember,  his sister Sharon Sadowy (Kevin and Heather), daughters Michelle (Rob) , Nicole (Sean) and son in law Brennan, grandkids Donovan (Bethany), Madison, Sarah, Alexis, Conar, Anne and AbbyGayle and great grandchildren Ryleigh and Carter.

Special thank you to the amazing nursing staff and doctors at Betel Home Selkirk for their care to both our mom and dad in the past year especially to Jamie and Arlene who my dad once called his girlfriend lol.

Private interment to be held in the spring.

Friends and family are invited to share memories and condolences on Thomas’s memorial page by using the comment field below.

My dad loved olde country music, car models and always tried his hand at anything from making jewelry to diamond painting. He drove from woodlands to selkirk everyday to work for at least 5 years. He was the best dad three little girls could ask for.

I can’t say I knew George well, as we left Selkirk when I was 3, except for our drives up to Selkirk to visit George and Louise and the girls.

That said George and my dad Sethu had a friendship that lasted over 50 years starting from their days working together at the steel plant. George, Louis and the girls were family to my dad and he spoke fondly especially of the early years as a bachelor living in Selkirk and how welcoming the George ans Louise were, and then when he got married and my mother moved to Selkirk how they looked out for her too. Though we moved to Winnipeg in 1988 my dad and George stayed in regular contact. He was a great selfless man, who always did for others sometimes at the sacrifice of himself. Michelle and Nicole my deepest condolences to both of you and the family. RIP George.
