Diane Marie Hockin

Sept 9, 1951 – April 11, 2023

Diane Hockin, beloved wife of Robert Hockin of Neepawa MB, entered into rest under the care of Brandon Regional Health Center April 11th, 2023, with her family by her side.

Diane was born in Ste Rose du Lac in 1951, the first of seven children to Alban and Dorothy Guillas.  Diane attended school in Neepawa and was looked up to by her siblings and a great help to her parents both at home and in her father’s business ventures.  Diane married Robert Hockin in 1970 and their son Mark was born soon after with daughter Joanna following in 1982.

Diane had great artistic talent and worked as a floral designer for many years and later in retail sales which suited her love of fashion and clothing.  She had a keen eye for style and amazing taste in many things which was reflected in her beautiful home, yard and closet (or many closets as Bob would argue). Diane loved music and watching all kinds of sports on TV, especially the Jets and curling.  She was most happy when the grandkids would walk through the door and always made sure to have their favorite candy or popsicles on hand.

Enjoying time out on her deck, checking, and watering her beautiful plants and flowers, having coffee with her siblings, reading, and working on crossword puzzles brought her great joy.  Although it was evident to all that she was not feeling at her best, Mum never complained and always tried to attend the grandkids activities and was extremely proud of all of their achievements.

Diane was predeceased by her parents Alban and Dorothy Guillas, father and mother-in-law Elmer and Vera Hockin.  She will be dearly missed by her husband Bob, son Mark and daughter Joanna (Kelly), grand children Hayden, Camryn, and Avery; siblings Velda, Valerie, Danny (Kathleen), Yves (Sylvia), Jackie, and Chris (Chrissy).

Our family would like to thank the wonderful staff at both the Neepawa and Brandon Regional Health Centers for their kind, compassionate care.  Anyone wishing to attend Diane’s graveside service on Tuesday, April 18th at 11am at the Riverside Cemetery are welcome to do so.  A lunch will follow at the Neepawa Legion Hall.

In lieu of flowers, please feel free to contribute to a charity of your choice in Diane’s memory.

Colin Roy Edwards, HRF

29 April 1944 – 29 March 2023

On 29 March 2023 Colin was suddenly taken from us.

He is survived by his wife, Pat; his children, Neil and Carolyn (James) and his sister Christine.

Colin emigrated from Kent, England, where he had qualified as a carpenter and cabinetmaker in December 1976. Pat and the two children followed in February 1977. By then Colin had already become involved with Kin which he attributed with saving his life in 1991.

One of the first projects he was involved in was the ground breaking for The Kinsmen Reh-Fit Centre. In later years he was the Kin member on the board and when, following back surgery, he was recommended to go to physio he decided to do Reh-Fit instead. That was where they found he had a large growth in his heart and without surgery he had about 6 months. After that part of his heart was man-made! During all this surgery he still managed to keep 100% attendance at Kinsmen meetings. He has served as President more than once, Treasurer and District Governor an unprecedented three times. He is a life member, has won many awards including the Hal Roger Fellowship Medal.

Prior to his surgeries Colin had had his own business making curved staircases which then became too heavy work for him. Unable to find work in Winnipeg, he took a position teaching woodwork at Arctic College for a year and was then offered a position, in Cambridge Bay, as housing inspector for the NWT where he stayed for about 6 years with only a few trips home. He loved fishing & hunting but only for food or clothes, etc. When he returned to Winnipeg he started working for Art Upholstery and stayed there until he retired.

During his retirement he and Pat were able to do some travelling from Hawaii, Mexico, USA, Caribbean, England, Wales and Greece as well as most of Canada.

A drop-in memorial will be held on Colin’s 79th birthday, 29 April 2023, at Kin Centre, 161 Grandin, Winnipeg R3H 0A8, 2pm – 4pm.  Come and share your Colin stories.

In lieu of flowers a donation to the Winnipeg MS Society would be welcome.

Sean Micheal Fanzega

September 21, 1969 – March 25, 2023

Sean will lovingly be remembered by children; Tyson (Taylor), Athena (Alex), Brother Rob (Dolly) and devoted parents Roy and Doris as well as aunts, uncles and cousins.

Sean started school in St. Francois Xavier.  High school in Elie was an exciting time.  Not for academics so much, but Hockey!  Being a goalie was much fun with the St. Eustache Jets.

Sadly, at the age of seventeen, he was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis.

In 1996, he married Bonita, the mother of his children.  He continued to work as a security guard as long as he could.  Deer Lodge Center became his home for the last eight years.

Many people were blessed with his presence and friendship.

We have loved you lots and will miss you more!

As tokens of sympathy, donations in memory of Sean may be made to the Deer Lodge Center, 2109 Portage Avenue, Wpg., Manitoba, R3J 0L3.

In accordance with Sean’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a private graveside service will be held at a later date.
