
Neil Van Kommer, 83 years, of Carberry, MB, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2026 with his family by his side.
Neil was born on April 24, 1943 in Putten, Netherlands and came to Canada in June 1952 with his parents and siblings.
Neil farmed for his whole life as well as selling Pioneer Corn and Case Farm Equipment. His passions were curling and golf. In keeping with his outgoing and friendly personality, Neil talked with everyone, he never met a stranger.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Esther, sons Rob (Julie) and Randy (Kathryn), grandchildren Alanna (Charles), Max, Colin and Beth, great-grandchildren Charles and William. Siblings Bya Jewsbury, Bert Kommer (Debbie) and Margie Irwin, brother-in-law Vernon (Georgina) Currie, numerous nieces and nephews and many good friends.
He was predeceased by his parents Bert and Corrie Van Kommer, mother-in-law Christine Currie, father-in-law Gordon and Kay Currie, his siblings Hanke, John and Hennie, brothers-in-law Brent Irwin and Roy Jewsbury.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, September 9, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at the Carberry Cemetery. Luncheon to follow at the Carberry Royal Canadian Legion.
Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Anderson, Kelly Evans, Ferg Whyte, Jim Marnoch, Earl Baron, Orville Cairns, Doss Mayer, and Wayne Delong and Dennis McMillan posthumously.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the “Carberry Food Kitchen”, c/o Carberry United Church, Box 239, Carberry, MB. R0K 0H0 OR the Manitoba STARS Air Ambulance.
