Claudette Carlson

August 17, 1948 – April 19, 2026

Peacefully, on April 18 with her son by her side, Claudette began her final journey. Left to honour her memory are her children, Nicole (Ricky) and Daniel, her grandchildren Sarah (Trevor), Heather (Matt) and Rachael. Her great-grandson Kalvin, her siblings Claude (Ellie), Aline (Terry), Amanda (Glen), Marc, numerous nieces and nephews and many foster children as well.

Mom was born and raised in La Broquerie, Manitoba, to Jean Marie and Hortense Mulaire. She was the quintessential middle child. Unique in every way, Mom forged her own path through life and broke the molds along the way. She ended up in Riverton where she owned and managed Nidan Management. Through that venture, she made many lifelong and respected friends that will miss her dearly. Later in life, she began the rewarding and loving journey of foster parent. The love she showed to those that ended up in her care will forever be cherished by each one and will always be remembered.

Anyone who knew her knows of the love she had for her big garden and meticulous yard and the deck built around the house that she so enjoyed all those many summer days and evenings. She could be found most evenings sitting with family and friends having great conversations. Never one to sit idle, Mom set out on many adventures from the infamous family road trip to Mexico, right up to her recent fight with health issues that she fought head on. She was a courageous and rightly stubborn woman who never failed to impress.

Claudette was predeceased by her parents Jean Marie and Hortense, her sisters Yvette and Marie, husband Jack (1996) and husband Sam (2021) and many other family members and friends.

We will miss her and the love she gave every day. She was and will always be the matriarch of our family.

The family wishes to thank the EMT’s and Gimli Hospital that helped care for Mom in her final time.

In lieu of flowers, please hug your Mom’s and make a donation to the MS Society, the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba or a charity of your choice in her honour.

A come and go celebration will be held at Mom’s place later this summer for all who knew and loved her to gather and share the joy and love we all had for Mom.

Family and friends are invited to share memories and condolences on Claudette’s memorial page using the comment field below.

I’m grateful for the times my kids & I were able to spend with you, either for lunch, holiday dinner or a quick visit while you were in Winnipeg. You were always very welcoming and giving…I see that in Dan as well. My thoughts go out to the family during this difficult time, may she rest in peace.
