Jerry Maurice Mestdagh

August 16, 1946 – October 21, 2025

It is with deepest sorrow we share the passing of Jerry Maurice Mestdagh, beloved husband, father, grandfather and uncle who passed away peacefully on October 21, 2025 at the Neepawa Hospital, with his family by his side.

Born on August 16, 1946 in Holland, Manitoba, Jerry worked for many years, one of the first employees at (then) Carnation Foods Potato Plant in Carberry until illness led to his retirement in 1998. He was a third-class Power Engineer, at what is now McCain Foods.

Jerry married the love of his life, Maureen Boulet, on October 7, 1967. They had fifty-eight years together and had many adventures along the way; following the Carberry Plainsmen hockey team, harness racing, watching their children and grandchildren’s sports events and motorcycling for fourteen years with his HONDA GOLDWING. Great vacations in California, Texas, Niagra Falls and Banff, Alberta, and really enjoyed attending the Minot State Fair every summer. He also enjoyed spending time with his brother-in-law Tony, hunting and fishing.

In his last few years, Jerry so enjoyed his wife taking him and wee Daisy-May “DEER HUNTING”, cruising back country roads on the lookout for deer, which Daisy would fiercely bark at from the car window – much to Jerry’s delight!

Jerry loved visits with his girls and their partners, and was always so proud of his grandchildren.

Jerry is survived by his loving wife Maureen and their children, Donna-Leigh (Brad), Dixie Lynne (Chris), grandchildren Jaxon, Taylor, Jamie, Cooper, Talen and Chase. Brother Larry (Diane), sisters Doreen (Emile), Diane (Bill) and Jeanette (Larry) and many nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by his parents Omer and Alena Mestdagh, brother Murray and sister Gloria.

A private family service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Association for Mental Health CAMH.

Jerry will always be missed and forever loved.

Rest easy my love, until we meet again.

Friends and family are invited to share memories and condolences on Jerry’s memorial page using the comment field below.

Jerry had such a wonderful sense of humor and a strength in his beliefs that, as kids, we didn’t always understand but looking back, those lessons helped shape who we became. I always thought he was the coolest on his motorcycle, and as we grew older, he was still that same steady presence who showed up when we needed him most.
There were times when things went sideways, and Jerry was always there calm, strong, and ready to help without hesitation. That was just who he was. Even later in life, that same determination and spirit never faded.
I’m so grateful for the memories, the laughter, and the lessons. Jerry will always hold a special place in my heart, and I will miss him deeply.
