Bruce Arnold Potter

Born: January 4, 1943
Died: September 23, 2025
Age: 82

Bruce Arnold Potter passed suddenly on September 23, 2025, at the home of his daughter, Christine Wattier, in Riverton, Manitoba.  He had spent a significant amount of time there over the last several years due to health-related issues.

Whether it was working on the house, repairing his John Deere tractors, rebuilding a deck or simply caring for his dogs, Bruce was always busy.  He left us doing what he enjoyed doing and on his own terms.

Bruce grew up in the farming community of British Columbia and learned the value of hard work very early on.  He began work on his father’s farm and continued that commitment later while working on his own farm.  He also became a diesel mechanic and operator for Borek Construction in the arctic.

Bruce had many fond memories of those times in the north.  His future wife, Barbara Gerzanic, became a cook at one of those camps and she would tell us stories about how all the wildlife would just walk up to him in the middle of camp in broad daylight, especially wolves.  That was one of his most memorable qualities, his connection and passion for animals.

In 1985, Bruce left farming and British Columbia and moved his family to Manitoba to be close to his wife’s family.  There he carried on his career with Buus Construction developing his passion for repairing, maintain and operating heavy diesel equipment.   He worked at Buus Construction all the way until his retirement just a few years ago and made many friends there over the decades.  He loved his work and had a great fondness for the Buus family.  He was well known and respected inside the community.

He is survived by his daughter Christine Wattier, and his son Joey Potter.  He will be missed by his 6 grandchildren, Marissa, Barrett, Emma, Leiella, Alexander, and Mckenzie and his great grandson Wryn.  He is also survived by his brothers, Linton and Terry Potter, as well as many family and friends who will miss him.

The family will be having a small, private ceremony in the coming weeks to honour all the contributions he had made to their lives.

Family and friends are invited to share memories and condolences on Bruce’s memorial page using the comment field below.
