We bid farewell to our father, Les Possia, who departed from this world on December 28th, at the age of 82. His absence leaves a void in our hearts.
A loving husband of 58 years, he was affectionate and proud. Never missing an opportunity to express his admiration and gratitude for the partnership they shared. Their love was the cornerstone of his life. A dedicated father, he showed endless support of his children’s dreams and accomplishments.
Les was known for his joy of putting a smile on peoples faces. He loved an audience for telling animated stories and his endless supply of jokes. He treasured nothing more than to be surrounded by people. He was a source of laughter for many in his community.
Dad lived a life full of outdoor adventure. He loved fishing trips with family, picking wild blueberries, and cutting fire wood. He was always longing for an outdoor camp fire or a fire in the cottage stove. His culinary specialty was making French fries at the cottage in the outdoor fryer. He was forever telling friends and family that his French fry secret was Red Pontiac potatoes.
He touched so many lives with his friendly spirit. He will be profoundly missed.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba.
Family and friends are invited to share memories and condolences on Les’ memorial page by using the comment field below.

Rita and family.
We are so saddened to hear the news of Les’ passing. We send sincere condolences to you and family during this very difficult time.
We met you and Les in the fall of 2015 at Falcon Lake after the purchase of our family cottage just down the street. You guys would drive by with a wave and often stop by with a smile. He would always say to us, “you guys made a great decision to buy here, you’ll make great memories”. Things like this really stuck with us. We really appreciated our time with Les and you. You guys were always so welcoming to us and we had many fond memories, from bbq’s, bonfires, a blueberry picking afternoon and of course an invite for his famous fries just to name a few. He always said “best fries this side of heaven”. I would stop by in the morning and of course Les would be sitting in the window reading the Saturday free press edition and give me a wave to come in for a coffee and a chat. He always had a smile and more than one joke and funny story to tell.
You guys were always so helpful during our many busy times of cottage renovations and many other tasks. Les was always there to lend a hand. We greatly appreciated our time together.

Rita, Jodi and Liza,
We’re so sorry to hear of the passing of Les, our condolences to all of you. We have great memories of his stories and who can ever forgot all the French fry gatherings! I (Greg) will always be thankful for his generosity, he was always offering his help with whatever I was doing. His favorite line whenever I came over to borrow a tool was “if I don’t have it, you don’t need it!”.
Greg, Shannon, Brett (Buddy G) and Brianna
Dear Rita, Jody, Liza and the rest of the family, we are thinking of you and send our deepest condolences. Meeting Les (and the rest of the family) at Falcon Lake is a fond memory of mine. He had us all in stitches and his mastery of storytelling goes unmatched. We enjoyed sitting outside eating his famous French fries and a delicious pie that Rita has just baked. I love how he would break into a story or joke after something one of us said and we would be all soon be crying because we laughed so hard. Many of his stories started with “Gee, I am glad you brought that up…” and then we knew we could sit back and listen with anticipation because a good laugh was coming. We send our love and a heartfelt toast to Les and family.
Rita, Lisa and Jodi,
My thoughts and prayers go out to all of you. We lost a sweet man.
He always made me smile. I have so many fond memories of our times together.
One memory is our first road trip to the states with your family. Les had us laughing the whole way.
