Ruggles Edward Green

November 28, 1952 – November 30, 2024

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ruggles on November 30, with his beloved wife Betty by his side.

Ruggles grew up and spent most of his life in Belair, where he developed a deep love for the outdoors. He cherished hunting, fishing, and camping trips with family and friends. His passion for fixing and building in his shop was evident to all who knew him. From his first job in surveying, Ruggles took immense pride in doing a good job in everything he undertook.

He is survived by his devoted wife Betty, her siblings and their families, his children Kim (Ivan), Jay (Tracey), Jenny, and Tim (Charlene); his grandchildren Tyler (Ania), Ashley (Stefan), Austin, Emily (Dylan), Anne, and Luke; his brothers Bob (Carol) and family, Lorne and family; his sister Dorothy and family; and his sister-in-law Margaret and family.

Ruggles was predeceased by his parents Edward and Muriel, his brother Wayne, his sister-in-law Erin, and many others who were close to him.

Ruggles shared many great times with his special friends Gary, Rick, Jim, and Ronnie.

A celebration of Ruggles’ life will be held at a later date.

Family and friends are invited to share memories and condolences on Ruggles’ memorial page by using the comment field below.

I was so sad to hear Rug is gone. My Rick could not get to Belair fast enough to catch up with Rug, Rug was true friend. They both used to love talking about the old days and things they did together when they were young. RIP Rug, say hello to Rick for me.

First and for most,my wife Alison and I would like to send our sensior condolences to Betty and children Kim, Jenny and Tim on the passing of Ruggles (Rugg). I knew Rugg my whole life,he was the best of friends with my brother Joe,(aka) Gregory Swain. They were neighbors for a number of years. Always seemed to something going on with those two. I recalled one time Ruggs dog had a run in with a porcupine, was full of quills. Well what did Rugg and Joe do, they put the dog in a dog house, run a hose from a truck to the dog house and gased the dog for a few minutes and flipped the dog house off the dog and proceeded to pull the quills out with a pair of pliers, lol. I saw it with my own eyes, and thought those two guys were nuts but it worked, not sure if the dog had brain damage after that, lol but it worked. There was always something happening with those two ,was always nice to have Rugg coming over to my brothers house for a few beverages and shoot the breeze as we called it. I had the pleasure of working with Rugg for the department of highways, after I got married. I was on a survey crew with Rugg and had my memories and laughs on the job, many of those memories were when we were doing work on Hwy 304, I remember it as just a line through the bush, and as I travel it now,I have to laugh about all the good times we had surveying it. Rugg was a good man and friend especially to my buddy Rick Lowing, who passed last September. Rugg it was a pleasure knowing you and this world will never be the same,I thank you for being in our lives and I hope you and Joe are up there doing your Crazy ass things that you used to do in Belair, love ya, big hug to my brother.

Sad to hear of Ruggles passing. We worked together surveying in the Whitemouth area and repaired many walls in the Whitehouse from our evening wrestling matches in the living room. He was going to work one morning and his back tire passed him when it fell off his car. All the Green family we worked with were such good friends. My condolences to the Green family.

I spent a year and a half with the Green family, much of that time was out in Belair. Rug was the cool uncle that enjoyed Christmas in July, shared a drink or two and was always there to help. We borrowed his chain saw many many times. He will be missed by all that loved him and also by folks like me, that only knew him for a short time.
    My sympathies! Monica Bernusky

My family have been friends with the Green family forever. We all played went to school together and helped each other. Ruggles was always willing to lend a hand and was fun to be around. He helped out my mother after my dad passed in the mid 1980’s. My condolences to the Green family. Hopefully Ruggles and my sister Rose can meet in heaven.
