    Dear Dear Brad,
I hate that you are gone…but I loved that you were here. We were friends at 16 years old and had great fun til you left to have your adventurous loves and life of travel. You lived in Europe, Iraq, Mexico and Korea and travelled the globe sharing stories from every stop. I found you again when you returned to Winnipeg to care for Betty and Don, and we made weekly treks to Emerson. Always Travel!
You were a wonderful son, and a good and loyal friend. Your friends meant the world to you and we all benefited from your generosity and your big, but fragile, heart. We will talk about you. And, you will share in every celebration, every bottle of Champagne, and every gourmet meal we share. Just for myself, I will miss the Sunday morning crepes, being picked up at the airport, and sitting at the counter at Deer+Almond or L’Express. I’ll miss holding your hand while driving. I will miss the laughter we had, the love we found and the life we shared.
    Travel well, Bradley George.
    Love
    Randal

Randy, we knew Brad only briefly, but he touched our hearts instantly. His verve and vigor, his humor and terrific story-telling was a real joy to behold. Teddy and I both wish we could have known him longer and he is already sorely missed.
May his memory be a blessing.
Sending you all our love, Ellen & Teddy

My dear old friend, life will never be the same without you in it. I will miss your stories, your smile, laughter, quick wit and your amazing memory (You’d always bring me back … Do you remember when …). I’ll miss your generous and beautifull spirit and your love of life. Randy, I am so very sorry for your loss. My heart breaks for you.

    When we danced

    Brad, darling, didn’t we dance!
You could dip. Dip low and strong.
We swooped and spun in my living room; grooved and jived under streetlights. Were we all drunk? Or were you sipping hot water and lemon while he was downing vodka?
    Oy.
Montreal. The Rio Tinto tents’ beat and swing. Waltzing through downtown, wine glasses in hand.
    Oy.
You convinced me to get that festival souvenir t- shirt and the Jazz umbrella, buy those art nouveau earrings at the MMFA boutique. They’re fabulous, you told me, besides, you’re in Montreal.
    Oy
Montreal to Ottawa for Canada Day… an unreliable GPS (certainly not our navigation skills) gave us a lot to laugh about. Mostly. At the National Gallery, The Louise Bourgois ‘Maman’ creeped you out, and we lost Randy to the exhibit halls.
    Oy
A languid patio lunch on the canal.
We reached out to touch the water.
    You poured for all.
    Elegant. Suave. Charming. Gallant.
You filled our glasses before they needed filling.
Made us smile. Made us laugh.
You loved life, and life, it seemed, loved you.

    Randy, darling.
    Grief is such a bitch.
    She stays too long.
    Won’t go quietly.
    Returns without warning.
Trips you when you think you’ve found a footing.
Wakes you from the release of deep sleep.
We would let go if we could, but we can’t.
It’s she who has hold of us; she is leading the dips and rhythm of this horrible dance.
    Hold on.
    Until she wears herself out.
    Hold on.
Until we remember how to dance again.

    Always, N

    Dear Brad,

As always, full of surprises. You know ,you have broken all of our hearts, but you always were a heart-breaker, you handsome, charming, mercurial human.

You loved life and it loved you back: not everyone can say that. I’ll missing watching you walk into a room and turn heads, I’ll miss your lemon pancakes, I’ll miss our boozy dinners in wonderful restaurants, and I will especially miss your wickedly funny story-telling.

Thank you for your love and kindness through the years: especially when my mom died. Wherever you are, I hope the beach is warm, the cars are snazzy, the party is hopping, and the wine flows freely.

Au revoir ma beau. We will surely miss you. xoC

I met Brad first at U of W. Always there with a smile and zest for life. Over the next many years, I would run into him in unexpected places, but mostly Safeway! He usually stopped for a lengthy catch up session on the mutual people in our lives. I always parted from him feeling better, he just had that kind of personality. I didn’t know him well but he made me feel like I did.
I’m so sorry he’s gone from this world and I want to convey my deepest condolences to Randy.

Dear Bard, never got to formally meet you but you were a dear friend to Celeste. Both of you to share and appreciate some great wines together! Starting off with Dom Perignon for dinner then moving on to some legendary super Tuscans Ornellaia and Tiagnello. You were always there for Celeste and your passing was so sudden and tragic. May you rest in peace. We will meet once day.
