Denis Gilbert Joseph Remillard

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved husband, father, and grandfather Denis Remillard on August 9, 2023.

Denis will be lovingly remembered by his wife Patricia, sons John (Sandi) and Robert (Jo-Ell), daughter Michelle (Guy), grandchildren, Kirsten, Cheyenne, Hunter, niece Kimberly, brother-in-law Rick and sister-in-law Darlene.  Lifelong friends Ron and Nellie DeFoort.

He was predeceased by his parents Aime and Louise and sister Lorraine.

Although his parents originated from St-Jean Baptiste (Manitoba), they primarily settled in St. Boniface Manitoba where he was raised. He was well known for his love of hockey and football growing up with hockey becoming a lifelong passion. He spent many evenings on the backyard community club playing pick-up games of shinny and skating circles around all who would challenge him, young or old.  Some of his favorite pastimes also included fishing and hunting, snowmobiling (including racing), and weekend family camping trips.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Edward J Pilat and Denis’ Doctors, Nurses, and aids at Riverview Health Centre a few years ago after his stroke, as well at Concordia Hospital in January 2023 and most recent health issues that resulted in his passing, Park Manor Personal Care Home, and lastly to the Winnipeg Fire & Paramedic staff that have expediently and graciously served him in his times of need over the years.

At Denis’ request no official service will be held.  Cremation has taken place.  He will be honored and remembered at a private family gathering.

Family and Friends are invited to share memories and condolences on Denis’ memorial page by using the comment field below.
