Allan (Al) Norman Bartlett

October 5, 1938 – April 23, 2021

With sorrow, our family wishes to announce Al’s passing. Life partner, Dad, Step-dad, Papa, Great- grandpa, brother and uncle. He is now at peace.

Al leaves behind him, his partner of 30+ years, Susan; his children; Korenna (Thom), Kirk (Leann), Kathy (Kevin), Tanya, Pamela and Debra (Nick): his grandchildren, Douglas (Lauren), Johanna (Tristan), Adam, Kale (Emily), Kelsey (Tyler), Keanan (Rebecca), Toni (Dan), Dakota (Mason), Lucille, Danika, Kataryna, McKayla and Brooklyn; his great- grandchildren; Peyton, Jackson, Aiden, Myles and Carter.

He also leaves his sister Nina with her family; nieces; Shannon (Glen) and Michelle (Jay), great nieces and nephews; Eryn (Gregoire), Kathleen, Elizabeth and Robert; great- great niece Eloise.

Al was predeceased by his parents Norman (Obie) and Johanna Bartlett, his granddaughter Victoria (Vicky) Anderson, brother –in-law Robert (Bob) Tricker, and his son-in-law Keith Sigvaldason.

Al was a “creative lifestylist ” who lived his life his way. He was born and raised in Elnora and Calgary, Alberta. Al’s sense of adventure found him anywhere between the west coast to the east coast of Canada. Al married his first wife Jane and moved his family from Alberta to Manitoba to New Brunswick. Eventually he settled in Winnipeg with Korenna. Kirk eventually joined him and then met Susan, his Sizzle. They brought their families together and he helped raise Debra through her teen years and beyond.

He was Jack of All trades and Master of None. He was, however, a quick study and nothing could or would stop him from learning a new skill or trade. Throughout his life, NO was not part of his vocabulary. He became a cook, a miner and a blaster at different times. He loved the ships on the east coast and the life (and knots) of a sailor.

His greatest passions were his family, including his pets; Elmer and Popcorn from his childhood and his fur babies with Susan over the years, namely; Joey, Corky, Samson, Sara, Sadie, Oliver and Grace and all the fur family from the kids, not to mention all the neighborhood pups that came to visit at the front fence.

Al was known for a very big personality. Everyone knew the moment he entered the room. He was fiercely loyal to those he loved and would defend them unconditionally and without question, while calling you the nickname he especially crafted just for you. Not afraid to share what was on his mind, you always knew where you stood with him, especially if you were not on time. There was never an excuse for lateness. Consequently, we have a generation of people in our family that know how to arrive on time.

Known by many, he will be missed by all.  His life – His way.

In lieu of flowers a donation to Palliative care Manitoba or your choice of an animal rescue would be appreciated.

Condolences may be left on Al’s memorial page at www.interlakecremation.ca

Arrangements entrusted to Interlake Cremation & Memorial Services.

    Dear Susan and family
I am so sorry to hear that you lost Al. It must be extremely difficult for you and your family. I know how hard it is to loose a husband and friend. Hope you can be consoled by the life you were able to share together. Thinking of you and praying that God will sustain you in spite of your sorrow.
