December 7th 1956 – May 18th 2020
It is with deepest sadness the family announces the sudden passing of Frederick Paul Luce on Monday, May 18th, 2020 at the age of 63.
Left to cherish Fred’s memory are his brothers Thomas (Cindy) and Mark (Linda), sister Melissa (Rick), nephews Evan and Sean; as well as many of his close friends.
Fred was predeceased by his Father Frederick Joseph, Mother Merlyn and his sister Leslie.
Freddy was born in Winnipeg on December 7, 1956 and spent his entire life living in the St James/Charleswood area. Fred was employed over 20 years as a Deliver Driver with CARA Operations at the Winnipeg Airport Authority to supply the airplanes with meals and beverages. Then he enjoyed his retirement.
Freddie loved his sports and his local sports teams, The Big Blue and the JETS. He loved golfing with family and friends and had the best golf swing in our family, He was known for his great personality and sense of humour.
Freddie loved the 5 Iron, one day golfing at the Boine (Assiniboine) with his good friend Gerry, Gerry asked “How did you hit that 5 Iron Freddy?”, and Freddy replied “ I hit it like 10 men” He was certainly well known for his one liners!
Fred had a big heart and was a family guy devoted to his Parents, living with them and taking care of them at the house in their later years.
Fred didn’t have a mean bone in his body, was always easy going and known for his mottos “just do the best you can, give it the old college try”
He had many friends in his life who always enjoyed his company as he was always a pleasure to be around. A good friend once told me there is only one way to have a lot of close friends in your life, “you have to be a good person.” Frederick Paul Luce was a great guy, he will be missed. We lost one of the good ones. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Belle and Larry, who were devoted loyal friends to Freddie in his life. Freddy always enjoyed the summer weekends up at Larry’s Cabin boating along the lake.
His love for animals was immense. In lieu of flowers donations in Fred’s memory may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, MB, R3T 9Z9.
Due to the Covid-19 restrictions, a private funeral will take place.
