It is with heavy hearts that we announce that Mother Mary left us on April 28, 2026, at the tender age of 99.
She leaves to mourn her daughter, Valerie Krut, son Gary Chizick (Darlene), 2 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her son, Ronald and husband, John.
Special thanks to the staff at Red River Place in Selkirk for their care and compassion.
Mary was a strong and good-natured woman with a gentle manner. Cremation has taken place and she will be laid to rest with her husband John and son Ronald, at the Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church, Gonor, MB., at a later date.

With heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of our mum, grandma, great-grandma and Sister Mary Ethyl at the age of 84.
Mary Ethyl was predeceased by her husband Raymond Horwood, her parents Nick & Dorothy Wawryk, Sister Muriel Carter, Brothers Paul (Judy) and Ken, Brother-in-law Dennis Boychuck and Ray’s siblings.
Mum is survived by her children Rodney Chanas, Kim Howell and Mark Chanas, grandchildren Steven (Clare) Howell of New Zealand, Kerri (Andrew) Klaprat and great-grandson Lawrence Howell. Her brother Charlie (Lorna) Wawryk, sisters Beverly (Bob) Runzer and Doreen (Wayne) Thomas and Sister-in-law Amy McLay. She also leaves many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Mary Ethyl was born in Selkirk and grew up in the Netley area. She worked at many different places over the years retiring from the Sanatorium Board (MB Lung Association). Mum loved reading, playing cards, games and her many flower gardens. She loved all kinds of music and was always singing or humming.
Mum suffered from Alzheimer’s for the past 10 years, which was truly heartbreaking for all who knew her. Mary resided at Betel Home for the past 2 years. The family would like to thank the staff at Betel for their care and compassion while she lived there.
Cremation has taken place and a private family interment will be held at a later date.

Surrounded by her loving daughter, grandchildren and great grandchildren, Cec (Curley) gained her angel wings. She will always be remembered by her infectious laugh, her strength and resilience and always having a loving motherly spirit.
