Patrice Burgess (Nee Reid, formerly Marion)

6 January 1959 – 30 September 2024

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Patrice Burgess on September 30th, 2024, at the age of 65.

Patrice is survived by her loving husband, Rob; her beloved mother, Diane Reid; along with daughters, Melanie (Logan) Zorn, Jaileah Reid (Dave McColl), Courtney (Branden) Shipman, and Krista Marion; Stepsons, Stephen Burgess (Darcy Brooker), and David (Melissa) Burgess; grandchildren, Bailey, Tristen, Dawson, Ryan, Sara, Teagan, Kingston, Xavier, Mason, Maeva, Harlow, Holden, and Hayden. Also left to mourn are her brothers, Daryl (Sheila) Reid, Don (Monique) Reid, and Jeff (Terezija) Reid. She also leaves behind her siblings-in-law, Bill (Linda) Burgess, Teresa (Bob) Horobec, Rosemary Burgess (Donald Coyston) and many nieces and nephews that we shared memories with through the years of celebrations and time at the lake. She leaves behind her furry companion, Molly, who remained by her side as much as time allowed.

Patrice was predeceased by the father of her children and her first love, Julien Marion, her father, Norman Reid, her Aunt Carol Jones (Auntie) who was like a second mother to her , as well as parents-in-law Bill and Lillian Burgess, and many loving pets.

Patrice was born on January 6th, 1959 as the youngest of four children, and only daughter. She was raised in Winnipeg by her parents, Diane and Norman Reid. She moved to many small towns in Northwestern Ontario before resettling back into Transcona. Ottermere Lake, the locale of the Reid Family cabin, forever held a special place in her heart. Patrice made countless memories and nurtured a love for the outdoors for her family while camping at Betula Lake for nearly a decade. She worked many years at CRA, where she made many friends who have reminded her children how funny and nice she was.
She took joy in crafting, baking, gardening and having a good laugh with her grandchildren. This laugh, genuine and innocent, will be missed by all who have ever had the pleasure of hearing it.

A celebration of life will be held in Patrice’s honour on Saturday, October 19th at 1:00 pm at Glen Eden Funeral Home.

Family and friends are invited to share memories and condolences on Patrice’s memorial page using the comment field below.
