Valerie May Lillie

January 17, 1950 – September 13, 2022

On September 13, 2022, Valerie Lillie passed on from this life.

She leaves to mourn her daughter Angela(Steve), stepdaughter Lisa (Bob), her 5 sisters, 5 brothers and a very large extended family, all of whom she loved very much.

Valerie is predeceased by her husband Will Ferguson who meant the world to her and her parents Olive and Bob Lillie.

Valerie was always smiling and spread joy wherever she went. She had a very kind heart and was always willing to help others.

Valerie lived most of her life in Selkirk. She worked in Winnipeg as a clerk for the Province of Manitoba in the Labour Board Department.

Val lived in her little apartment  for 30 years.

She was always happy to host family hair days and birthdays which often meant a gathering up to 10 people crammed into her little apartment. Growing up in such a large family she was used to it.

She loved having her family around her. Family meant so much to her that when she was a teenager she risked her own life to save her younger siblings when their house caught on fire.

She was the best at making butter tarts and short bread cookies and loved going to BINGO! Sometimes she would be lucky and win, but we are the lucky ones to have been able to know such a kind hearted person.

She was a very strong being who fought until the end.

It is with heavy hearts we say, “Good bye”.

Valerie will be truly missed and loved always.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Sunday, September 18, 2022 at 2:00 P.M. in St. Peter, Dynevor Old Stone Church, East Selkirk MB with Rev. Jane Barter officiating..
