Leslie Paul Pelland

Dec 29, 1956 to Nov 4, 2024

Dad passed peacefully in his sleep Monday Nov 4th.

He will be forever loved, missed and remembered by us, Matt (Jess), T.K. (Ashley), our Mom Rose and Grandchildren Willow, Dante, Brooklynn, Bryce, Blaire, and Vivian Mae, as well as all of the Burgess Family.

Les was born and raised in Transcona. He went to school in Transcona from Grade 1 to 12 then Red River College graduating with a graphic arts degree. He worked before College for Co-Op Implements as a welder. Once he graduated he worked for a small print company until he joined Naylor Communications where he held titles of stripper, Art Director then as Digital Imposition Supervisor where he stayed over 33 years. He worked part time for a few years as night receiver for Home Depot after Naylor was sold.

Dad met Mom in 1989 and took to being a Dad to 2 boys who loved him dearly and he loved them as his own. Mom and Dad played Baseball in Oakbank, coached Baseball in Oakbank and lived at the rink watching TK play hockey, roller hockey and baseball. Numerous years of Soccer and Roller hockey for Matt saw the family on the go as well. He always supported us boys in all our activities and was there to cheer them on.

Les loved nothing more than a good game of golf. He was very sports driven having played hockey, flag football and baseball most of his life.

If you knew Les, you knew you would have a lively conversation where he always had a witty comeback or funny story to tell. He held onto that humor right up till the end.

Cremation has taken place; there will be a private family interment of his cremains with his Parents John and Olga Pelland.

A Celebration of life will be held Saturday Nov 16th at 11 AM at Coutu Funeral home, 680 Archibald Ave Wpg. MB.

The Winnipeg Folk Festival was near and dear to Les, and he loved all animals, so if you wish, please make a donation in his memory to The Winnipeg Folk Festival or Manitoba Mutts No Kill Shelter.

Patricia Leslie Cerkow (nee Coburn)

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Patricia (Pat) Cerkow, 79, peacefully in her home on February 2, 2022 with family by her side.

She is survived and lovingly remembered by her husband, Arthem (Art) Cerkow, children Michael Cerkow, Norine Hiebert (Ben), Austin Cerkow, Melissa Delaronde (Lorne), grandchildren Brittany, Riley, Elizabeth, Brady, Holly, Sophia, Isabella, Colton, Keenan, great grandchildren Makaela and Payton.    She is predeceased by her parents, Michael and Phyllis Sazynski.

Pat was born on July 1, 1942 in Winnipeg and grew up in East Kildonan.    She graduated from Miles MacDonnell Collegiate and spent her early career in the 1960’s at Monarch Life, where she enjoyed giving tours of the modern new building.

Pat met her husband, Art, at the age of 19 and they were happily married for the next 60 years.  She loved being a stay at home mom while her 4 children were young, and building their new home together in North Kildonan in 1980.  Pat worked for Manitoba Public Insurance for 17 years in administration until her retirement.  Pat and Art enjoyed spending time at their cabin at Lee River, getting together with family and friends, and traveling in their retirement years.  Her favorite trip was visiting her son in Australia where they toured up and down the east coast.  Over the years, Pat had a special place in her heart for her many pet dogs.

Pat was a dedicated mother and grandmother first and foremost.  She treasured her family and embraced every minute with them.  She loved family dinners and weekends at the cabin, hosted many holiday celebrations and birthdays in her home, and was a proud spectator at all our big moments.  She is a symbol of unconditional love and nurturer to all of us.  She will be forever in our hearts.

The family would like to thank the staff of the palliative care program from St. Boniface Hospital, as well as the many friends and family who helped support us during these past 5 weeks.

In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place.  A Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 10, 2022 at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street, West St. Paul. Due to current covid regulations, proof of vaccination and photo I.D. will be required to attend.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the Cancer Care Manitoba Foundation.
