With deep sadness we announce the sudden passing of Isadore “Nestor” Krawec on June 24, 2026, at the age of 88.

Nestor leaves behind a grieving family and a multitude of friends. He is survived by his children Michael and Nancy (Randy) and his grandson Jeff (Jasmine). Nestor was predeceased by his parents Michael and Annie, his wife of 61 years, Cynthia and his grandson Mitchell.

Nestor was born in the little town of Foley, Manitoba in the rural municipality of Gimli. After leaving school in grade 10, Nestor soon realized that selling was his passion and embarked on a 40+ year career as a salesman during which he amassed a collection of awards and trophies. He was such a good salesman he often said he could sell ice to the Arctic. Nestor travelled extensively as a salesman and one fine evening while travelling through Barrington Passage, Nova Scotia, he met the love of his life Cynthia when he picked her up hitchhiking. After a short courtship they made their way back to Winnipeg where they were married on New Year’s Eve of 1963.

Nestor was very proud of his Ukrainian heritage. He loved the music (especially live bands), the language, the food and even travelled to Ukraine several times. He was a member of the Ukrainian Professional and Businessmen’s club. In his spare time Nestor loved to read, to go fishing, to play scrabble, to play the stock market, and to go to the casino. One of Nestor’s greatest passions was that he loved making speeches. He wanted to talk to everyone, everywhere and all the time. He was a member of several Toastmaster’s groups in Winnipeg.

Nestor was the epitome of a loving husband, father, grandfather, son and uncle. He was a strong and proud man and we are immensely grateful for the time we had with him. He will be deeply missed and forever held in our hearts.

The family wishes to thank the staff at the Fred Douglas Lodge for the excellent care they provided to Dad as well as Rick from Interlake Cremation and Memorial Services for guiding us through this difficult time.

Funeral Services will be held Monday, July 20th at 7pm at E.J. Coutu Funeral Home, 680 Archibald Street in Winnipeg.

Nestor, we love you and are eternally grateful for the moments we shared. Until we meet again Dad.

June 28, 1942 to December 16, 2025

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Cynthia Marie Krawec (Morash) on December 16, 2025, at the age of 83.

Cynthia leaves behind a grieving family and a multitude of friends. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Nestor; her children, Michael and Nancy (Randy) and her grandson Jeff (Jasmine). She also leaves her sisters, Becky (Walter) and Ann (Richard); her brothers, Tom (Lucy) and Leslie (Alberta) and countless nieces and nephews to mourn her loss. Cynthia was predeceased by her parents, Mary and Leslie; her grandson, Mitchell; her sister, Catherine and her brother, Ed.

Cynthia was born in Lockeport, Nova Scotia and was the eldest of seven siblings. Upon graduation from Lockeport Regional High School, she attended a teachers’ college in Truro, NS and afterwards launched her teaching career in the town of Barrington Passage, NS. It was there that she met her future husband, Nestor while she was out hitchhiking. After a short courtship, Cynthia and Nestor made their way to Winnipeg where they were married on New Year’s Eve of 1963. While she was married, Cynthia lived in several cities/towns in Saskatchewan including Swift Current where her daughter Nancy was born in 1964 and Regina where her son Michael was born in 1965. In 1967, Cynthia and Nestor finally laid roots down in Winnipeg and called it home. Here she embarked on a 33 year teaching career of grades one to three for General Vanier school of the St. Boniface School Division. Upon retirement from teaching, Cynthia then became the President and CEO of a collection agency located in Brandon, Manitoba called Concord Accounts Servicing House.

Cynthia’s grandchildren, Mitchell and Jeffrey were the loves of her life. Nana doted on them day and night, often having them for sleepovers and “sick” days or taking them to the dollar store to find their treasures. In her spare time, Cynthia loved reading, doing word search puzzles, playing Scrabble and Crib, going to Bingo and going to the casino. She was an amazing cook and no one could make ribs like her.

Cynthia was the epitome of a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and aunt. She was a strong and proud lady and we are immensely grateful for the time we had with her. Her memory will evoke laughter, tears and everything in between and she will be deeply missed and forever held in our hearts.

The family wishes to thank the angelic nurses that cared for Cynthia in her final days at Station 4B – St. Boniface General Hospital as well as Rick from Interlake Cremation and Memorial Services for guiding us through this terrible time.

An intimate gathering of family and friends will be held at the Coutu Funeral Home, 680 Archibald St. Winnipeg, on Tuesday, January 6th at 7:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Lung Association or the charity of one’s choice.

Cynthia, we love you and are eternally grateful for the moments we shared. Remember, it’s not “goodbye”, but “see you later.”
