Richard Wayne Johannesson

July 21, 1943 – January 15, 2022

It is with deep sadness our family announces the peaceful passing of Wayne Johannesson at the age of 78 years on Saturday, January 15, 2022 at St.Boniface Hospital (Extended Care Unit) after a long illness.

His desire to live knew no bounds and he was a miracle for what he had overcome.

He leaves to mourn his loving wife of 59 years, Eleanor Johannesson, daughter Leanne (Ward) and son Warren, grandchildren; Rae-Anne (Ryley), Kyle, Rachelle(Jaren), Rebecca (Vishal), Anthony, Joseph, greatgrandchildren; Lucca, Aria and Audrey. He also leaves his sister Christine (Don), brother Jory, brother-in-law Brian Boyle (Donna), cousins and many very close friends.

Wayne was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on July 21, 1943 to the late Margaret and Walter Johannesson. He was also predeceased by his son Daryl and brother Ken.

Wayne worked for the Winnipeg Transit, retiring on June 20, 2003.

Mesa, Arizona was our winter home for 10 years where we met so many new friends.

Wayne enjoyed life to the fullest. He was a good pool player, playing pool for fun and in competitions where he was known in the South as “Manitoba Fats”. He enjoyed weekly crib games that he loved so much with close friends along with bingo outings.

He was always friendly, kind and willing to help someone.

The family wishes to thank Doctors and Staff at Seven Oaks Hospital and St. Boniface Hospital (Extended Care Units and Dialysis Units) for their patience and care during Wayne’s illness.  Many thanks to our wonderful friends who have shown so much support during this trying time.

As per Wayne’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held at a later date.

“We love you now Honey and always.”

The moment that you died

My heart was torn in two,

One side filled with heartache,

The other died with you.

I often lie awake at night,

When the world is fast asleep, and

Take a walk down memory lane,

With tears upon my cheeks.

Remembering you is easy,

I do it every day,

But missing you is heartache

That never goes away.

I hold you tightly within my heart

And there you will remain.

Until the joyous day arrives,

That we will meet again.

Daryl Wayne Johannesson

July 12, 1963 – July 15, 2019

It is with deep sorrow our family announces that suddenly on July 15, 2019 our precious son passed away in the USA at the age of 56 years.

He leaves to mourn his passing two sons, Anthony and Joseph; his mom and dad, Wayne and Eleanor Johannesson, brother Warren, sister Leanne Wiebe (Ward), uncle Brian (Donna), aunt Christine (Don), uncle Jory and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Daryl was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba and later travelled extensively in the USA, meeting many more close friends.

Daryl was kind, loving, having a wicked sense of humour and an infectious laugh. He spent his life caring for his family and transport driving on the highway from coast to coast. Because he totaled over a million miles driving, he was able to have a brand new truck with all the “bells and whistles” through KLLM.

As per Daryl’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held at a later date.

Friends and family are invited to share a memory or note of condolence on Daryl’s page by using the comments field below.

“We love you with all our hearts and miss you terribly!”

You never said you were leaving

You never said, “Good-bye”.

You were gone before we knew it

 And only God knows why.

In Life we loved you dearly

In Death we love you still

In our hearts we hold a place

That only you can fill.

It broke our hearts to lose you

But you didn’t go alone.

A part of us went with you

The day God took you home.
