Beverly Moss

In Loving Memory…

September 5, 1946 – July 5, 2025

We’re heartbroken to share that our mom, Bev Moss, passed away peacefully with love around her after an incredibly tough journey with illness. She fought hard and was strong right to the end.  We’re so grateful she’s finally at peace.

Bev was truly one of a kind—her support was unwavering; her humour was subtle and her kindness ran deep. She leaves behind her children Daryl (Theresa), Lori (Rob), and Lee (Laurie), her six grandkids who adored her; Tamara, Johnathon, Patrick, Danielle, Josh and Sam; her husband Peter Moss, and Darryl Coates, father of her children. Being the first of 11 children, she was more than just a sister, she was a caregiver and supporter to her siblings:  Tracey, Kerry, Susan, Debbie, Wendy, Judy, Linda, Rob and 2 that have passed early in life: John and Michael.  She also leaves behind her friends, extended family, and all the people (and animals) she made room for and touched in her life.

She had a huge soft spot for strays—whether it was a cat, an injured duck or chipmunk or someone going through a rough time. She welcomed them all with open arms and an open door until they were strong enough to move on.  Bev volunteered with the Kenora Cat Shelter and truly believed animals deserved just as much care and compassion as people.

Her love of music was lifelong—she shared it with her kids and grandkids, and going to concerts together were great memories. She always had music on in the house had a soft spot for Alice Cooper, Pink Floyd, Meatloaf and so many others.  She was also an avid reader, always a book in hand and this love also ran through her children and grandchildren. Talking and swapping books, she’d read pretty much everything she could get her hands on.

Bev also had a magic touch in the garden. She knew everything about plants, helped others with any questions and created an incredible landscape of plants in her yard. Life by the lake brought her peace, and she loved cultivating her many gardens, watching the chipmunks, and any other little visitors who stopped by.  She had many stories of critters in their yard and on and around their dock.

Over the years, she went through many creative phases—macrame, knitting scarves, sweaters (including for dogs), dishcloths, and later, detailed needlepoint portraits of her grandkids and creative pictures. Whatever she made, it came from the heart.

She welcomed everyone—boyfriends, girlfriends, friends of friends. If you were in her orbit, you felt it. But if you hurt someone she loved? Watch out. She stood her ground like no one else.

We teased her a lot about her love of Kleenex—if she didn’t have a pocket, you’d find a tissue stuffed up her sleeve, beside her or hidden somewhere on her body. We learned to check every load of laundry.

Bev lived with health challenges most of her adult life, but never let them define her. She managed it all without complaint, and just kept showing up—with love, grit, and strength.

We already miss her so much – her stories, our chats, her steady presence, and her fierce love. She was simply the best.

For those wondering about a service – Mom was never one for big fusses.  She didn’t want a big production – just something simple.  She was cremated privately, as she wished, and a small celebration of life will follow.  We’ll honour her with love, honey cruellers, and maybe Alice Coopers “I’ll Never Cry” in the background.  She warned us not to fuss…and promised to haunt us if we did.

If you’d like to honour her, donations can be made to the Kenora Cat Shelter, a cause she cared deeply about.  Kenora Cat Shelter – Helping Cats Find Forever Homes Since 2003

Please feel free to leave a message or memory below—we’d love to hear how Bev touched your life.

Beverley Robillard

25 August 1945 to 14 November 2024

Peacefully, with Jo-Ell by her side, Bev left us to be with her sons, Corey and Mark, and many others.

Bev was predeceased by many, including her sons Corey and Mark, Randy, husband John, sister Caren and her parents.

Left to mourn are her children Michael, Jo-Ell (Rob) and grandsons Corey (Delanie) and Jody.  Michelle (Gabe), John Allan (Michele), Mona, Marlene and Kenny.  Grandchildren Tara (Pat), Rebecca (Tom), Cody (Courtney), Kylee, George (Breanna), Nicole, Ashley, Taylor, Crissy and   Brothers Allan (Patricia), Lindsay (Darlene).

Bev was a friend to all.  Her contagious laugh and quick wit will be missed.  Bev loved without judgement.

In her younger years, Bev loved to curl, play tennis and cross country ski.  She always had a passion for reading which she passed onto her children.  She loved cross words and anything to learn about forensic science.  She loved her curling bonspiels with her cousin Deb, Ticki and Jo-Ell.

Some of her greatest moments were her cabin weeks at Trout Lake with Corey and Jody.  They didn’t miss a summer for years.  Throwing a football, swimming, fishing, sandcastles, movie nights, card games and dance parties where her laughter could be heard cabins down.  Those boys lit up her life and she was their hero.

Mom and John spent many vacations in the north fishing.  Mom loved the sun and the outdoors.  She always had her beautiful tanned skin by April.

There were many camping trips to Gull Lake with all the kids.  Later, we had many lawn dart tournaments at the family cottage in Beausejour (Brokenhead).

Christmas’ on Rampart Bay were always a big event.  Mom and John loved spending time in the kitchen together and everybody, near and far, were welcome!

Anybody who knew us kids knew our mom.  She was loved by everybody.

Bev cherished her friendships with Terry, Marlyn, Lorne, Donna, Shelly and her forever sister-in-law Mary.  You were all amazing to her and she loved you all dearly.  Some have already passed on and we know she is with you now, of course having a glass of wine, reminiscing and laughing.

Bev’s relationship with her sister Caren was a blessing.  Thelma and Louise forever. She cherished their time together, especially going to the Fringe Festival and Act Fest.

Her love and friendship for her cousin Deb ran deep.

A very special thank you to the ladies of Park Manor Personal Care Home.  Cathy, Dori, Celeste, Rachel, Tera, Tracey, Genevieve, Lynette, Erin, Barb, Michelle, Janet and Marni.  Your care, love and friendship went far beyond the duties of your jobs.  Bev cared deeply and loved you all very much.

A heartfelt thank you to Patricia Remillard.  Your care and love for our mom went above and beyond.

At mom’s request, there will not be a service.  A private family service will be held at a later date.

Beverly Ruth Carson

June 1, 1955 – June 27, 2024

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, wife, sister, and friend, Beverly (Bev) Ruth Carson, at the age of 69 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She is survived by her devoted husband of 39 years, Ralph; her sons Harrison and Charlie; and her brother Howard. Bev was predeceased by her parents Edith and Ben.

Bev was born at the Women’s Pavilion on June 1, 1955 in Winnipeg. Her formative education took place at the I.L. Peretz Folk School where she and her brother were immersed in Jewish studies that included the history of the people, traditional knowledge, literature, an immersive study of the Yiddish language and science. Peretz School instilled an exemplary work ethic and moral clarity that she carried throughout her life.

Bev later attended Garden City Collegiate, graduating high school in 1973. She later enrolled at the University of Winnipeg, where she studied English literature and continued a life-long passion for reading and writing. During her final two years of university, she also studied computer programming at Red River College.

Bev’s professional career began at the Winnipeg Tribune where she was hired as the newspaper’s first female advertising representative. She went on to land a position at Xerox and later, worked in the financial services sector for over a decade at the VISA division of Toronto-Dominion Bank.

An abiding commitment to her family and children drove Bev to leave TD in 1995 and become a stay-at-home mother. It was here that she made her biggest mark, pouring her life into raising her two boys while playing an indispensable role helping Ralph manage his small business as an almost full-time bookkeeper and accountant.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the nursing and medical staff at the Riverview Health Centre, who showed great compassion in caring for Bev during her final weeks in the palliative care ward.

Family and friends are invited to share memories and condolences on Bev’s memorial page using the comment field below.
