Anne Maria Schroeder (nee Josten)

On April 13 2023 at Betel Home, Anne slipped quietly away at 94 years.

She leaves behind daughter Monika Beatty and son Jeffrey Schroeder along with his wife Lydia Holt-Schroeder to celebrate her long life well lived.  She also is survived by her granddaughter Carly Beatty (Shawn), grandchildren Brittany Holt (Brian), and Justin Holt (Raychel) (great grandchildren Rio and Maverick), together with family and friends in Germany and Minnesota, predeceased by two brothers and a sister.

Born in Dinslaken, Germany October 26 1928, she survived and conquered many challenges over the years.  Anne married Rudi (died Sep/1998) and subsequently they, along with their young daughter Monika, left for an ocean voyage to Canada in Apr/1955, arriving by train from Quebec City in what would be their home in Winnipeg.  She knew no English and had no family or friends in the new land.  After many years in Winnipeg, she later moved and loved living at her home on Netley Creek in Petersfield where she spent many hours in her yard and garden.

Anne was a creative soul and always one to lend a hand.  She loved nature and wrote many poems about its beauty.  She knit, crocheted, and collected many things, most notably dolls of which she had thousands over the years. She created all manner of accessories for her beloved dolls and they were a source of pride and joy to her, and she enjoyed exhibiting them on a few occasions.

Anne always had a great love of children and they instinctively could feel that and were also drawn to her.  She had many stories to tell them and songs to sing.  One of her most loved jobs over the years was in housekeeping on the maternity ward of Misericordia Hospital where she received an award for her caring work.  Of course for mom, the bonus was being with all those babies!  On one of her many casino bus trips down to Mahnomen, MN she collected money for and donated it to their Boys and Girls Club.

Cremation has taken place and honouring her wishes there will be no service. She would say take a walk in the beautiful natural world and remember me there.   Should anyone wish to make donations in her name, please consider one that supports children or nature. We would also like to thank the staff of the Betel Personal Care Home for their care, support and compassion during the time our mom resided there. We also thank Kim, the companion visitor, who brightened up mom’s life these past months.

Heather Anne Cador

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mom, Heather Anne Cador, on February 18, 2022 in Winnipeg, MB.

Heather was born in Ocean Falls, B.C. on September 9, 1949. She leaves behind to mourn her three children, Desiree (Jay), Ryan (Dee), Tyler (Jolene), and three grandchildren Hayley, Brayden, and Alyssa. She will also be missed by her sister Charlotte (John), her brother Robert as well as other family and friends.

Heather was multi-skilled and passed those skills to her children. She was especially happy when she was coaching baseball. Heather was well known and respected in both the baseball and hockey community. She loved the underdog and was always able to see the good in people, even when they struggled to see it for themselves.

Her greatest joy in life was being a mother, and a grandmother, and all the fond experiences she had of being both. For this, she will be greatly missed.

Out of respect to her wishes, there will be no funeral.

Rest in peace mom. You’re no longer in pain. We love you.
