Olive Dorothy Marie Pahl

September 25, 1941 – May 12, 2025

Predeceased by her husband, Leo Pahl, on June 4, 2019.

With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister, Olive Dorothy Marie Pahl, at home on May 12, 2025, at the age of 83.

Olive was known for her quiet strength, deep love for her family, and gentle spirit. She faced life’s challenges with grace and courage, leaving behind a legacy of love, resilience, and kindness that will live on in all who knew her.

She found joy in cooking, gardening, visiting with friends and sisters, and was well-known for her lively jigging, spoon playing, and love of country music.

She is lovingly remembered by her children: Elly Pahl, Fay Pahl (David Eidse), David Pahl (Carmel), and Barb McCullough (Jack). Olive was a proud and devoted grandmother to Clinton Fortin, Justin Fortin (Laura), Sonia Eidse(Nico), Breanna Golden Eidse(Spencer), Brady Pahl (Kaitlyn), Jessica Pahl (Noah), Neil McCullough, and Stacie McCullough (Adam).

She was also blessed with four great-grandchildren: Clovis, Simone, Sonny, and Aurora, all of whom brought her tremendous joy.

Olive is survived by her siblings: Lily (Johnny), Oliver (Debbie), Theresa, Doris, and Clarette. She was predeceased by her siblings Florence, Noella, Simone, and Gilbert.

The family extends our deepest thanks to our sister, Elly Pahl. Elly, we are so grateful for all you did for Mom. You were there in the hardest moments, offering love, comfort, and care when she needed it most. We’ll never forget that—and we know Mom felt it too.

We also offer heartfelt thanks to the palliative care and homecare staff for their compassion and guidance. Your support helped carry us through a very difficult time, and we are truly thankful.

We’ve lost someone incredibly special, but we are so grateful we had each other—and her—through it all.

With love, from all of us.

A Celebration of Life will be held on May 31, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at the St. Eustache Community Hall, with interment to follow at the St. Eustache Church Cemetery.

“Heaven gained a beautiful angel. She will be forever in our hearts.”

Memories from the Grandchildren

Jessica:
My favorite memory of Mémère is how she was our first home away from home—our daycare, our comfort, our constant. She watched over us until we were strong enough to watch over ourselves. I’ll forever cherish the scent of bannock rising in her kitchen, afternoons in her and Pépère’s garden, dancing the jig across her living room, and the magic in every old wives’ tale she shared. Her soul was a gentle light that warmed every moment. I’ll miss that light—but I carry it with me, always. I’ll miss you, Mémère.

Brady:
One of my favorite memories is playing Donkey Kong in the mornings before school, trying to beat the levels she was stuck on.

Sonia:
I’ll never forget seeing Mémère bop along to Blurred Lines. It wasn’t her usual country music, but she had great rhythm! I loved watching her stomp her feet and holler to the beat—it always got everyone going.

Neil:
I loved staying at her house in the summer. The breakfasts she made every morning were amazing.

Clint:
She used to play funny pranks on me, like warning me I’d see “The Devil” if I made faces in the mirror or that a shark would swim up the drain if I didn’t get out of the tub. But she also helped me get over my fear of grasshoppers. ( also loved her cooking)

Justin:
Some of my best memories are of going to Mémère’s house on days off from school. She’d be watching game shows while crocheting. At night, we’d play cards and dice games—she loved to win! Her brownies were the best, and her cooking and baking were unbeatable. We were always entertained when she’d jig and play the spoons. So many wonderful family memories.

Breanna:
As a kid, I loved spending weekends at Mémère’s. She taught me how to crochet, and we’d play Game Boy for hours—Donkey Kong was our favorite. As I got older, I loved gossiping and catching up with her, and taking her to the casino was always a blast. One of my favorite memories is the road trip she and Pépère took with Sonia and me to Seven Clans. Mémère was our angel—kind, funny, and so full of love for all of us.

Stacie:
I’ll always remember the sleepovers, learning new card games, and snacking on white bread with lots of butter and brown sugar. Sweet and simple—just like the time we shared.

I want to express my sincere condolences to all of you. Your Dad & Mom were so welcoming when the few times I stopped in to their place. I remember stopping in once and immediately we went to the garden. Well I came out with a whole bunch of beans, plus more! A very nice couple and now they are back together! ❤️

Saying goodbye to a sister is one of the most heartbreaking experiences anyone can face. How do you find the words to honour someone so close to your heart? Whether your sister was your best friend, your confidant, or simply someone who made your life brighter. Sister you will be missed but always in my heart.
