Surrounded by the love of her family, Sarah passed away at home unexpectedly of arrhythmia due to dilated cardiomyopathy on October 5, 2024. Sarah was the second youngest of 10 siblings, predeceased by her father Abraham and mother Mary Giesbrecht, brother Edward Giesbrecht, ex-husband Lyndon Krahn, and father-in-law Jake Krahn. She is survived by her spouse Jonathan Heads, daughters Tiena (Dustin) and Ashley, stepchildren Jason and Heather Redcliffe, ex-husband and friend Gary Redcliffe, grandchildren Riley (Danielle), Hailee Martin, Damien, Jacob, and Jordan, great-grandchild Malcolm, siblings Martha (Albert) Schroth, George (Debbie) Giesbrecht, Agnes (Claude) Roziere, Pete Giesbrecht, Helen (Frank) Speed, Margaret (Steve) Borowski, Willie (Maria) Giesbrecht, Danny Giesbrecht, and many nieces and nephews.
Sarah grew up in St. Laurent on the farm as a young child, later moving to Selkirk, MB, with her parents, where she graduated from Selkirk Comp High School. She took a carpentry course that she was so proud of and still had her set of stairs she made! She worked for the Winnipeg Winter Club catering for a time and enjoyed her younger days singing country music and playing her guitar until her first child was born in 1983. Four years later, she enjoyed raising her family in Anola, MB, as a stay-at-home mom and was blessed with her second daughter’s arrival in 1991.
Sarah had a passion for gardening and cherished her time tending to her Transcona plot, where she found peace and joy in nurturing her plants. She was always on the go helping others, whether cleaning, escorting friends to appointments, shopping, or offering assistance wherever it was needed. Sarah was someone you could always count on; she would drop anything to help someone else.
Sarah was diagnosed with breast cancer twice, enduring chemo and radiation treatments, and emerged victorious both times. After five years in remission, she was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Despite daily bone aches, she carried on with a smile and a heart of gold.
As an adult, Sarah went back to school, taking computer courses and pursuing a career in home care. She formed meaningful connections with the clients she cared for so deeply.
Sarah had an infectious smile and was the one person you could go to for support, love, and understanding, offering a judgment-free embrace to anyone in need.
In accordance with Sarah’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Friends may honor her memory by continuing her commitment to helping others.
Sarah was loved by so many and will be missed dearly.
A come-and-go celebration of life will be held in Sarah’s honor at North Kildonan Community Center on June 8, 2025, from 1–4 PM.
