November 17, 1929 – December 24, 2020
Elizabeth Bylholt, affectionately known as Liz, passed away peacefully on December 24th. Liz was born in the Netherlands and as a young adult, she and her husband, Hill Bylholt, set sail for Canada with their young family, sons Hank and Eppo Bylholt, to start a new life. They arrived in Winnipeg where they raised their boys. Liz and Hill later retired out to their cottage in Gimli and lived a very active life in Gimli for many years. When Hill passed away, Liz moved back to Winnipeg to be closer to her family and enjoyed an active social life living at Appleton estates. Liz lead a dynamic and healthy life right up to her 90th birthday. You could often spot her out and about with her son Hank and daughter-in-law Penny or participating in the many activities offered at her residence. I believe that this kept her young at heart!
There was a lot of love, laughter and friendship in Liz Bylholt’s life. Even though she is gone now, I know that her legacy will live on in all those who were lucky enough to have shared in her life. She was an incredible wife, mother and grandmother. Those of us who knew her always felt comfort in her presence with her calm disposition and easy laughter. Her memory will live on in all of our hearts forever. Good-bye Oma.
