Loretta Joan Desilets passed away on April 2, 2019 at Riverview Centre, Winnipeg, MB
Loretta was born May 28, 1950, to Agnes Todd and Richard Desilets.
Loretta was a cherished sister to Ronald (Anna) Desilets, Patricia Desilets, Colette (Francis) Holmes, Richard (Lynne) Desilets.
Loretta was Aunty Retta to Lisa (David), Jeanne (Craig), Pierre (Robyn), Daniel (Cindy), Benoit (Robbin) and Philippe Desilets; Carmen and Quincy Donenfeld; Patrick, Spencer (Robyn) and Perry Holmes; Nicolas (Jenna), Andrea (Jonathan) and Elliot (Katie) Desilets.
Loretta was great Aunty Retta to Louis, Geneviève, Renée and Marissa Manahan; Lucien, Chloé, Noah and Joel Desilets; Tessa, Zach and Jacqueline Balsinger; Gabrielle and Félix Desilets, Daniel and Reina Desilets; Cole Donenfeld; Benjamin and Mikaël Dulude.
Loretta spent her childhood in Elie, Mb. As a member of a loving family whose best times are with each other, Loretta was a frequent contributor to this glee and merriment with her utter sense of the ridiculous. She did not hesitate to assert her sentiments be it via jesting, an astute political observation or loving regard.
Loretta’s entire working career was spent at “the gas company” where she became an advocate for standards and rights in the workplace. Her friendships there were life-long. She was a wholly caring mom to her whiskered babies, Smega, Wally, Dervish and Baby Girl. Instead of breaking for lunch, she would rush home at noon, let Baby Girl out for a stroll, somehow coax her back into the house, then dash back to work. Total love and devotion. When she wasn’t at work or entertaining/partying or chasing squirrels (numbnuts, she called them) in the back yard, she was trekking through Italy. Tuscany was her second home.
The family thankfully acknowledges all the help, support and care given to Loretta, especially by Karen Lawlor and Lynne Desilets.
Eulogy and prayers will be said on Wednesday, April 10, 2019, at 10:30 a.m. followed by Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m., at Blessed Sacrament Church, Elie, Mb., with Fr. Michel Nault officiating.
