
Edward George Burgess, passed away at home with family by his side on November 24th, 2019 at the age of 78. He was born on November 10th, 1941 to parents Arthur and Nellie Burgess and resided in Winnipeg until 1968. In 1963 he married the love of his life and best friend, Jeannie Miller. In August 1968, he moved to Carberry and worked for Carnation and Nestle Foods retiring in November 1998.
Ed will be dearly missed by his wife Jeannie of 56 years and their three children: Laura Boyle (Joseph) and grandchildren Nicole, Mallory and Chris; Colleen Wirch (Cameron) and grandchildren Tyler and Taryn, Tori and Jay, and Taylor Shea; Ed Jr. (Yvonne) grandchildren Andrew, Beau, Heather and Janeen; and great grandchildren Drake, Blake, Zakk and Ethan.
He is also survived by brother Arthur (Grace), sister Joan and sister-in-law Lillian as well as several nephews and nieces. Ed was predeceased by his parents Arthur and Nellie Burgess, brother William and sister and brother-in-law Helen and Gerry Roozendaal.
In 2005, Ed and Jeannie moved to Brandon. They are members of St. Augustine Church and became involved in the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, St. Luke’s Society and the Knights of Columbus. Through his volunteering, Ed enjoyed his involvement with many newcomers to Canada and especially cherished the lasting friendship of our Mauritian family.
Ed enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also enjoyed time spent in his award winning gardens. Ed’s stamp collection was started by his father and a source of enjoyment all throughout his life.
A memorial service will be held at St. Augustine of Canterbury Roman Catholic Church on Friday, November 29th at 10:30 a.m. A luncheon will follow in the church hall. A private family interment will be held.
